Pub Nights
Every second and forth Wednesday of the month, Skando Chicago gets together for our regular “Skandinavisk Happy Hour.” Whether you want to brush up on your Danish, hang out with fellow Swedes, or just come for the cheap drinks, all are welcome! The venue changes based on the season, so be sure to sign up for our mailing list to get the latest details.
Julebord / Julbord
Our largest annual event and the one everyone talks about year-round is the Skando Chicago Christmas party or Julebord. Hosted at the Swedish American Museum in Andersonville, our Julebord brings everyone together for a traditional feast that includes singing, dancing, and of course, lots of drunken toasts.
Midsummer
Come celebrate the summer solstice Scandinavian style with our annual Midsummer party. Whether you call it Midsommar or Sankthansaften, this is a great way to kick off the summer party season. We’re working on making this year’s event bigger than ever, so sign up for the mailing list and stayed tuned for more details.
Young Scandinavian Brunch
Each spring, Skando Chicago joins up with the Swedish American Museum Junior Board, the Swedish American Chamber of Commerce’s Young Professionals Club, and other local Scandinavian groups to host our annual Young Scandinavian Brunch. This event has been a great way to meet new faces and keep up-to-date with the various Scandinavian clubs in Chicago.
Skando Ski Trip
Snow and skis are in the Nordic DNA, which is why the annual ski trip is not to be missed. In early February, Skando Chicago heads out of the city to the Kettle Moraine area of Wisconsin for a weekend of cross-country or downhill skiing and snowboarding. Of course, skiing is only part of the fun. Built by Norwegian pioneers, a historic log cabin serves as the backdrop for nightly feasts and countless stories.
Paintball
While Scandinavia is known for its commitment to peace, that doesn’t stop us from nurturing our killer instincts on the battlefields of our annual paintball tournament. Dorky? Sure. Fun? Definitely! Get in touch with your inner fourteen year old and join us for this yearly event held at Challenge Park.
